Well, since Shave folded, I've not been sitting
alone in the dark you know! Nope, I've been continuing my residency
at Hitchin Folk Club (with Bryan when he's free) and we've supported
some great acts like Dougie McLean, Little Johnny England and
(my favourites) Cathryn Craig and Brian Willoughby to name but
a few.
I've also been playing the odd barn dance dep for Brookfield
Band and am playing in a duo with Shani Eliraz. Most importantly
(to me), I've continued the song-writing.
I have a whole raft of new songs, some of which I have put on
my myspace site. My latest song was inspired by a visit to the
US. I went to the Heard Museum in Phoenix and learned all about
the Indian Schools (check out my blog for more info).
I still play some of the Shave songs in my own set (well, the
ones I wrote) and enjoy listening to the old Shave CDs every
now and then. I keep in contact with all sorts of friends we
made through Shave (though I have to say when my computer crashed
a couple of years back I lost loads of emails... so don't feel
I've been neglecting you - I lost you!).
I have my adorable Taylor guitar and my instruments now include
an acoustic bass (Ovation), which is great, and my stand up (I
love my stand up!) Aria bass.
Apart from music I've been busy writing too: I am a moderator
on a writers' forum and have had my first book published (only
an audio book of short stories by a very small independent publisher
but it's a start).

Our
kids are
now both tall teenagers - Melody 'came of age' in our family
as far as I'm concered: when doing the laundry the other day
I cleaned out the pockets of her jeans and there was a plectrum!
Alex is studying for AS Levels and Mel still loves riding (though
it's huge great horses now, not cutsie little ponies anymore).
Music continues to be the centre of our lives and we've been
having great fun with our little home recorder. It will never
replace proper studio time, but
it is a great way of saving those 'inspirational moments' and making sure you
don't lose that creative flair due to (in my case) an inability to write music
down.
Say hi if you visit my myspace or my blog - it's always great to
catch up with
our Shave buddies.
