About Shave the Monkey

Shave the Monkey's influences came from many sources, including traditional, rock, early and classical music, as as evident in its unique style. Their command of over 20 instruments which spanned ten centuries, coupled with superbly crafted songs made what can only be called an electric performance.

Shave performed at many of Europe’s top festivals including Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Dranouter Festival in Belgium and Zwolle Folk Festival in the Netherlands. When not performing at festivals the band played up and down the UK in folk clubs and art centres. Shave the Monkey also made many appearances on both radio and television.

During the fifteen years they were together the band recorded four albums at Woodworm Studios

Shave the Monkey played together for fifteen years – but all good things must come to an end, so at the end of 2003, decided to call it a day. Shave the Monkey reunited for one off concerts in 2004, 2009, 2011, 2014 and finally again 2019/20.
